What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is revolutionizing the Fitness industry by attempting something few have tried. That is, defining what fitness is, and promoting the best possible program to achieve it, with measurable, quantifiable results.

The proof is in the results. The program started in the late 90′s and has exploded worldwide, with over 1500 affiliates and estimated 20,000 people a day doing CrossFit. From everyday people to military personnel to elite athletes, people are finding unprecedented results in the program. We take the best exercises that have proven to produce results, and eliminate those that don’t.

There’s no secrets – most of what we do can be done in your garage or local park. CrossFit is “open source fitness”. You can find videos and examples of the things we do on the CrossFit HQ website.

With that said, there are many things that are safer and more effective when performed with proper coaching. The workouts are also fun and inspiring to do in groups with other athletes. Thus, we encourage you to visit us and see what it’s all about.

CrossFit as defined by Headquarters (crossfit.com):

“Constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.”

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.
