Just a reminder to all as we move into the holidays and people start taking trips and extended breaks from the gym. Prolonged vacation just sends all that progress backwards and we see a lot of struggle and pain to get back into things in January. Try to stay consistent through the holidays, and make the best choices you can when faced with holiday meals. It may not seem at the time like skipping the beer, stuffing, and bread pudding will make a difference, but it really does. Do some research on Paleo holiday recipes. Also visit other affiliates when you travel, most are very welcoming to visitors. Look up travel WoDs you can do with minimal equipment. Get something done, even if not feeling motivated; you’ll be glad you did.

Holiday Hours:

Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Years day.

Closing Sundays Starting Nov. 13.

Open gym on Saturday is moved to 9:00 AM (8:00 AM Class is still there).

REGISTER for classes. Empty classes will be cancelled. Daytime 9 and 10 AM classes especially have been sporadic, and may be cut back if attendance stays low. Either way, be sure to REGISTER, and you’ll see the proper schedule and receive any notifications.

Huge apologies for the delay on this, it’s been a tough call to pick the winners.

Due to how close it was among the top contenders, we have 6 winners, with 2 showing an edge to take first prize, and then 2 runners up for both men and women. All 6 of these people did an excellent job and made some changes that were tough for them, to some great results. Congrats!

Men:

  • 1st: Danny M.
  • Runner’s Up: Dan R., Tim S.

Women:

  • 1st: Marie C.
  • Runner’s Up: Renee P., Lisa O.

Our 30-day summer nutrition challenge officially begins next Tuesday. This time around, we’re allowing a choice of Paleo or Zone, or combine both for the best results. Printouts of the rules and guidelines will be available at the gym, or email me for the PDF version. Buy-in is only $25, to help cover the prizes and party at the end, and you’ll need to do a weigh in and photo before and after the challenge.

New bodyfat analysis system from BodyMetrix has been ordered and should be in by the start of the challenge. For those wanting more accurate numbers, and continued evaluation of muscle mass and fat %, it’s highly recommended to sign up for an analysis. There will be a small charge for these sessions to help pay for the system.

Beach Party: The weekend after the end of the challenge, we’ll be having a big beach party at Paul & Lisa’s condo at New Smyrna. Hooverball, beach WoD, and fun in the sun.

To help all the Paleo challenger’s get started, we’ve got Rosa’s Farms starting deliveries again to our gym. Rosa’s is an all humanely pasture raised & grass fed organic farm located in Ocala. The quality and flavor of their food is outstanding. If you’ve never tried a real pasture raised chicken, treat yourself at least once and you’ll wonder how you’ve been eating cardboard all this time.

Following is the link to Rosa’s web site and store price list – normally we get some discounts off this on a big order. Please send me an email with what you’d like, even if it’s just a few items. Hopefully we can get enough interest to continue regular orders from them. All items come in frozen except eggs. We’ll keep it at the gym in coolers and our fridge the day of delivery for you to come pick up. Next delivery is June 29th.

Just a reminder for those who didn’t get the earlier memo. We’ve been changing our registration system, so please don’t worry if you try to log in and register and have trouble. If it tells you you’re out of classes, don’t worry. We no longer need you to sign up each day except for open gym hours on the weekend. We do need you to let us know what class time you’d usually like to be pre-registered for though.

Thanks for understanding and sorry for any confusion.

THE CHALLENGE (January 13th – March 10).

8 weeks of strict eating “Paleo”. Trust us when we say this will change your life if you let it.

This will change the way you think about what you eat, what your tastes and cravings are, and likely permanently change your lifestyle, health, performance, energy levels, and moods for the better.

A food log must be kept, and we’ll be doing photos and performance comparisons from before and after the challenge. There will also be a weigh-in at the start, midway through, and end. Food logs are due at the midway point and at the end. (Note: this is not strict weighing and measuring, we just need to see a log of what you’re doing).

The “buy-in” for the challenge is $50. Winners will be determined by a scoring system evenly split among three things: points given for the food logs, workout performance improvements, and before/after photo voting results. This year we have 5 winning slots: 1st prize male and female, and runner ups, and a “newbie” category winner.

Detailed rules sheet and guidelines available in the office, or email us if you want a PDF version. Sign up’s begin Monday the 10th (schedule a 15 minute appointment to weigh in and sign up), and the official first day we need logs and weigh in deadline is Thursday Jan. 13th.
